class types

ADULT CLASSES

Have you always wanted to sew but didn’t know where to start? Do you dream of sewing your own clothes? Or do you know how to sew but need help getting to the next level? Or maybe you want to find a community that loves sewing as much as you?

The sewing education we provide to adults will meet you where you are. We offer workshops and parties for beginning sewists who have never sewn a stitch. Our semesters are designed to enhance your skills with every project. Each season we will select patterns that work together for a mini wardrobe capsule.

TEEN CLASSES

Do you have a teen who wants to learn to sew? Or an aspiring fashion designer who dreams up new designs and wants to bring that vision to life? Or maybe your teen is just looking for a fun activity to do with friends?

Our program provides a supportive environment for teens learning to sew, using modern and appealing projects. Working through our structured curriculum, they will gain confidence as they master this life skill. We put your teen in control so that their completed projects reflect who they are and their vision.

KIDS CLASSES

Does your child want to learn to sew? Or maybe you are looking for an educational activity your child will look forward to every week? Or perhaps you want to throw a birthday party or girl scouts outing? We have an activity that will be right for your child!

If your child is just getting started, our all-inclusive workshops and parties provide all supplies-you don’t need to buy anything for them to get started. Just show up and have fun!

For your little one who can’t get enough sewing, we teach a structured curriculum that builds their skills and confidence as they complete each project.

Made Stich Co. - Sew With Confidence

Sewing Skill Levels

Skill Levels will help you decide which class is best suited for you. The levels are designed to be progressive and build your sewing skills. For example, if you are choosing a level 5 class, you will need to complete classes at a lower level or have the knowledge listed under those lower levels to ensure you get the most out of it.

SKILL LEVEL 1 - NO SEWING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Level 1 Classes are designed for the absolute beginner. You may have no sewing experience or have not sewn for a very long time, and you have probably never used a sewing machine.

SKILL LEVEL 2 - ADVANCED BEGINNER

Level 2 Classes are designed for stitchers who have basic sewing experience and have practiced within the last year. You know how to use and thread a sewing machine and bobbin on your own. You know how to sew a simple seam and are familiar with terminology such as “right sides together” and “seam allowance.” If you have previously taken a workshop with Made Stitch Co, you will be ready for this level.

SKILL LEVEL 3 - BEGINNER DRESSMAKER

Level 3 Classes are designed for stitchers who are confident using a sewing machine and have practiced in the last six months. You can complete a simple project, such as a pillowcase or tote bag, without difficulty. You are ready to begin sewing clothing but unsure how to get started. You have never sewn a garment using a commercial pattern.

SKILL LEVEL 4 - ADVANCED BEGINNER DRESSMAKER

Level 4 Classes are designed for stitchers who have made simple garments in the past six months, such as those in a Level 3 Class. You are familiar with how to use a sewing pattern, how to measure yourself and pick a size, and you are looking to learn a new technique.

SKILL LEVEL 5 - INTERMEDIATE DRESSMAKER

Level 5 Classes are designed for stitchers who can sew simple dressmaking projects without difficulty. You can follow a sewing pattern unaided, and you want to learn a more advanced technique, how to sew with a trickier fabric. You don’t have experience fitting or altering patterns, but you are ready to learn.

SKILL LEVEL 6 - ADVANCED DRESSMAKER

Level 6 Classes are designed for confident stitchers who have made many garments using commercial patterns. You are comfortable with using trickier fabrics. You have some experience with fitting and making minor alterations to patterns.
