Palmer/Pletsch Louisville Workshops
Hundreds of students from around the world have attended our sewing workshops. Like a sewing vacation, you'll share camaraderie with other sewists from all walks of life. Everyone who attends are taught expert sewing techniques and the tissue-fitting method of pattern fitting.
You will be guided by the qualified Palmer/Pletsch sewing teaching team. We have been teaching sewing and fitting sewing patterns for over 35 years, focusing on quality sewing and fitting. We have worked with, and influenced, major pattern companies, bringing our message to you along with our fashion sewing books and sew-a-longs. We want to personally share our sewing knowledge with you in these workshops. And, we learn from you as well, which makes us better teachers.
The Louisville Sewing School, held at Made Stitch Company, is taught by Lyndsey Stanfill, fitting fanatic and Palmer/Pletsch Certified Sewing Instructor. Workshops are taught in a fun, kind, and learning environment...this is truly a Sew-Cation!
Fit Fashion Patterns
Are you tired of making clothing that doesn’t fit? Then this Fit Workshop is for you!
How do we do it? By fitting real women! Having long ago dispensed with tedious measuring or making a muslin to check the fit of a sewing pattern, we have mastered the process of tissue-fitting. This simply means "trying on" the pattern's tissue pieces to see where to alter the pattern for a custom fit.
By following a systematic tissue-fitting sequence that has been developed and refined (wait till you see the "wrinkle dictionary"!), the pattern pieces themselves become the muslin!

Pant Fitting and Sewing
Learn to fit any style pant and to sew them to perfection! We’ll give you a comprehensive presentation, show you pant styles, and discuss the best pant fabrics. We take ONE measurement to determine your size, fit you in tissue, and show how to alter it for your figure. You will then cut it out in fabric and do more fitting. Demonstrations are included for beautiful zippers, waistbands, pockets and hems. After the first pair, you decide what style pant to work on next!
