Handmade Wardrobe Series-Positano Dress/Blouse (Adults)

Warm weather is coming!!! Whether you are lounging by the water or enjoying a dinner on the patio, this new summer dress pattern will be the perfect summer dress. Join us in the studio on Friday evenings in April to sew up your next Spring wardrobe essential!

This elegant and easy-to-sew peasant blouse or dress includes full, gathered raglan sleeves with elastic at the wrists, a gentle V-neck notch, and a gathered yoke with shoulder darts for shaping. The dress includes short sleeves, side pockets, and a narrow tie that loops around the waist.

Sometimes, the biggest sewing challenge is getting the proper fit for your sewing project. We will do some basic fitting so that the pattern fits YOUR body. With the perfectly fit pattern, you can sew every version of this dress for your handmade wardrobe.

During this 4-week class, students will learn:

• How to take your measurements and choose the correct pattern size
• How to make simple adjustments to a pattern to fit your body
• How to correctly apply interfacing
• How to sew a facing
• How to sew gathers
• How to sew darts
• How to sew pockets
• How to sew a hem

This class is suitable for confident beginners and above. It is perfect for our Beginner Fashion Sewing Level One class graduates. Students must be able to operate a sewing machine independently and confidently.

Required Materials (purchase prior to the first class):

• 2 to 4 yards of fabric (see recommended fabric and yardage notes below)
• (1) Pattern: Liesl + Co Positano Blouse & Dress
• Lightweight Fusible Interfacing
• 1 spool of coordinating all-purpose thread
  

Recommended Fabric:

• This pattern works best with light- to medium-weight woven fabrics like cotton voile, lawn, poplin, chambray, linen, and rayon. We have some beautiful fabrics that will work with this pattern. Our staff is more than happy to help you with your fabric selections!
• As with all garment classes, we recommend you wash and dry your fabric prior to the start of class to prevent any further shrinking.

Yardage:
It depends on the size and view of the dress being made. The pattern accommodates US sizes 0-20. Sewing pattern sizes are found inside the pattern.
